The Holy Rosary

Joyful Mysteries

First Joyful Mystery:The Annunciation of the Angel to Mary

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: You upset yourself too much in life and are impulsive in what you do. Always act with serenity and seek the Divine Will in everything, offering yourself to God with the very same words of Mary: Behold your servant, O Lord, be it done unto me according to your word.

The soul: O my Jesus, grant that I may understand the mysteries of your love for me and that I may fulfil your Will in everything. I am ungrateful to your love of me and have doubted you so many times. Behold, now I believe in your love and give myself entirely to you: Ecce ancilla Domini.

Second Joyful Mystery: The visit of Mary Most Holy to St. Elizabeth

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: You make many sacrifices for others, but you do not always make them for God. Never act for human convenience but only for charity. Invoke Mary Most Holy so that she may visit your soul and sanctify it, rendering it all oneglorification of God:Magnificat anima meaDominum.

The soul: O Jesus, you have deigned to direct your gaze upon my littleness and have given yourself to me present truly and alive in the Eucharist with an infinite love. Grant that I may not be ungrateful to you and that I may glorify you with my poor love: Magnificat anima meaDominum.

Third Joyful Mystery: The Birth of Jesus in Bethlehem

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I come to you every day in Holy Communion, and every day I repose in you like I did in the manger of Bethlehem. I was born in the silence of the night, and it is in the silence of love that I desire to work in your soul. Do not dissipate my gift with the unrest of your soul but trust in me who am faithful and will not permit deceit or the illusion of evil in you.

The soul: Come, Jesus, I believe you and adore you, come into my poor heart and grant that I may warm you with my love. I believe it is you who gives himself to me and I want to be faithful to you unto death.

Fourth Joyful Mystery:The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: Mary Most Holy presented me in the Temple; you in turn present me to God in the offering of the eucharist through the hands of Mary. When I immolate myself in you, accept the sorrows of life like Mary accepted the sorrows predicted to her by the holy aged Simeon, and be faithful to me in the anguish of your sorrowful day. I Bless you +

The Soul: Eternal Father, I offer you Jesus in reparation for my sins and the sins of the whole world. I offer him especially for the horrors of impurity and so that souls consecrated to you may not offend you. Together with Jesus I offer you the sorrows of my life; I trust in you.

Fifth Joyful Mystery:The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: How many times have I given myself to you with a very special unique love and you by distrusting in me have lost me! When you lose me, my daughter, and it seems to you that I am no longer yours, come to my temple and you will find me in the Holy Tabernacle. Do not lose your way in my ways of love but seek me with constancy in the Eucharist. I bless you!

The soul: O my Jesus, I love you alone and desire to always love you alone above all things. Grant that I may never get lost in the creature who is nothingness, butmay Igaze upon you and love you alone above all things. In this way I will never lose you and you will always be with me.

First Luminous Mystery:The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: John the Baptist baptized with water, that is, with a simple symbol of penance and humiliation, whilst I, the Redeemer, baptize be effusing the grace of the Holy Spirit and the fire of love. May myBaptism be your true regeneration; mayit render you full of grace and make you the object of my complacency.

The soul: Jesus, my Redeemer, the Spirit consecrated your Humanity with a fullness of grace that reached the infinite. Manifest your eternal light to your poor creature because I desire to be a beloved daughter for you, in whom you can take complacency.

Second Luminous Mystery:The Miracle of Jesus at the Wedding feast of Canna

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: My Mother knew by experience the influence of her mediation over my Heart. I entrusted my entire work [of redemption] to her from the very beginning and established that she be Corredemptrix at the foot of the Cross. With the words, “They have no wine”, she demanded for a miracle andI desired with that miracle to veil the great sacrifice of my love.

The soul: O my Jesus, it was almost repulsiveforyour love to give wine…, you would have desired to give your Blood, but your hour had not yet come. The Blessed Virgin, for her part, desired not to give wine alone but she desired to give her apostles a motive of faith in You; she wanted to fortify them with a prodigy. Grant that like Mary, I may be able to penetrate into your Divine Heart, and like you, be able to penetrate the delicate desires of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Third Luminous Mystery:The Preaching of Jesus

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: My daughter, I have come to evangelize you, who are poor in supernatural grace and light; in order to heal your oppressed hearts and liberate you from sin. This is my work unto the consummation of the ages: to gather all of you in my Heart.

The soul: O Jesus, you are the Messiah and the Anointed One by the Holy Spirit! You who are eternal Truth, illuminate the whole world with the triumph of the Church. You who are the Redeemer of men, who can only perform admirable works, make your Reign triumph!

Fourth Luminous Mystery:The Transfiguration of Jesus

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I prayed on Mount Tabor conversing with Moses and Elias about my death; it was like a sublime canticle that was elevated to the One and Triune God, like a magnificent psalm because [while] Moses and Elias glorified the Father for his promises, I glorified him by accepting in me the fulfilment of [my death] and by showing the perfect harmony of it in my life. My daughter, may your life be an admirable canticle, a triumphant harmony of immolated love in me and for me. In this way, your prayer united to mine will go beyond the poor atmosphere of the earth and reach even into the immensity of the firmament.

The soul: O Jesus, Master of mankind, thus take me also and bring me to the calm solitude of hiddenness there to pray, as you did with the three apostles, so that in you and for you I may become a flame of holocaust that will shine for you and the Father in the infinite Love.

Fifth Luminous Mystery:The Institution of the Holy Eucharist

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I longed most ardently for this miracle of love, by which I opened to you the door of my charity and gave my life tomy Church. I was not satisfied, however, to give myself as food but I also chose to give myself as drink. I have given you my whole Bodyand by immolating myself for love, I wanted to give you my Blood as a sacrifice of love- the same [sacrifice] of the cross. Thank the Father, my daughter, and console my profound sadness for the betrayal of Judas and the wretched souls throughout the ages.

The soul: O Jesus, Spouse of the canticles, wholly suffused with majesty, love, goodness and peace, you came upon earth to sustain human infirmity and you gave us your life. I contemplate you together with the angels and with the adoring creation I want to obey you always. O Word Incarnate, you who can do all things, knows all things and accomplishes all things with wisdom, give me your most pure love and grant that I may always approach [the sacrament of] your most Holy Body with an ardent faith.

The first sorrowful mystery:The Prayer of Jesus in the Garden

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: Fulfil the Divine Will in the sufferings of your soul and, above all, in the agonies of your sensitive heart. Never grow disheartened in life but, in fulfilling the Divine Will, look to your final goal which is Heaven. Do not cry, but trust in God and abandon yourself to Him. Do not get angry, but bear all things with patience and spread peace around you.

The soul: O Jesus, I am so weak.Teach me to do the Divine Will and grant me strength in suffering, calming my nerves and placating my fiery nature. In all my sufferings, O God,may You be blessed. Amen.

The second sorrowful mystery: The Scourging of Jesus at the Pillar

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: As I was scourged for love of you, so bear your physical sufferings for love of me. Offer your weariness for those who are feeble in the ways of God, offer your pain for those who seek the pleasures of the flesh. Be holy in all your preoccupationsand give others the example of calm and of union with the Divine Will.

The soul: O Jesus, I offer You all my sufferings in union with Yours, for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of souls. Console me and give me strength.

The third sorrowful mystery:Jesus is Crowned with Thorns

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I was crowned with thorns in order to expiate all the sins committed with the head and so as to give equilibrium to poor, lost minds. By the wounds of my head, pray that equilibrium may be conserved in your mind and in the minds of your loved ones, for every imbalance of the conscience has its foundation in the imbalance of the mind. Do not fantasize, but in every step you take ask the Holy Spirit for light, that you may know how to regulate yourself with order and peace in every action.

The soul: Never permit, O my Jesus, that I should drive myself to insanity and dishonour Your name with strange, unbecoming behaviourand wretchedness of mind. Make me wise and prudent in the Holy Spirit.

The fourth sorrowful mystery: The Journey of Jesus to Calvary

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I go forward bearing my cross for love of you, therefore follow me for the love of me. You would not want to carry the cross because it is repugnant to your nature, which was made for happiness; but how can you reach happiness if you do not bear the cross? Many souls would want to make a cross for themselves, but only in order to make it too light. They end up making one that is heavier and they grow distressed in their hopeless sufferings, because their cross is hopeless. Unite yourself to the Divine Will and bear your daily cross without impatience, without cowardice, without rebellion, trusting in me, for I am your Cyrenean and I assist you. Of what use are impatience and rebellion to you? Why do you wish for everything to be according to what you desire, when everything is an aversion? Live by patience and you will live in peace. I bless you + + +

The fifth sorrowful mystery:Jesus Dies on the Cross

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: Contemplate me crucified, and all of your sufferings will be soothed. Do not fear, I open the arms of mercy to you from my cross and I save you. Trust in me, trust in me. You are noton a wrong path, but it is I who leads you in the ways of my particular love. Be at peace and unite yourself entirely to me at the foot of the cross, immolating yourself for me. I bless you.

The soul: O my Jesus, grant that I may be faithful to You until death and that, like the pious women, I may accompany You always with a lively faith in Your truth.

The Glorious Mysteries

The first glorious mystery: The Resurrection of Jesus

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: I am the Resurrection and the Life. Trust in me in all of your trials and be certainof the triumph of my glory in your life. Be strong and live by love andcharity, and rise to a new life, after having crucified your miseriesonthe cross of penance and mortification. I bless you +

The soul: O my Jesus, help me to rise for I am always the same, notwithstanding the great graces You have given me. Send the grace of a renewed compunction into my heart, so that I may change my life and fulfil Your Will.

The second glorious mystery:The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: Rise high above and detach yourself from all earthly things. You cannot ascend unless you make yourself small, humble and full of charity. Overcome yourself, for you are still completely full of yourself and you know that if a balloon does not rarefy the air that fills it, it will not go up. You need to rarefy your nature and fill yourself with the Holy Spirit. I bless you +

The soul: O my Jesus, I am so mortified that I have made so little progress since You called me to a more perfect life! Have mercy on me, and stretch out Your hand to me that I may follow You courageously in the loftiness of a holy life.

The third glorious mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Virgin Mary and on the Apostles

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: You still lead a natural life and you allow yourself to be guided more by the impulses of a sudden enthusiasm than by grace. You believe yourself to be doing well when you feel a little fervour, and you don’t know how to be faithful to me in darkness and in anxiety of soul. Invoke the Holy Spirit that He may guide you and place your faculties in His hands, that He may direct them in the ways of love, towards God. I bless you +

The soul: O Holy Spirit, come and possess me entirely. O Mary, my Mother, pray for me and attract the Holy Spirit to me so that, like the apostles, I may be transformed into a new creature.

The fourth glorious mystery: The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: You contemplate the Blessed Virgin assumed into heaven in body and soul, but you do not contemplate the fact that the path that led Her to this great triumph was that of Calvary. If Mary suffered so much and suffered for me, do you not also wish to suffer? It seems to you as if you gather only bitterness in life, and yet, if you suffer for the love of God, every bitterness becomes a seed of eternal glory. Accept the cross, if you desire to attain to the glory of the eternal triumph. I bless you +

The soul: Draw me along with you, O Immaculate Virgin, and grant me a great spirit of patience and of peace. Draw my family and my children to God, and grant that they may all be eternally saved.

The fifth glorious mystery:The Crowning of Our Lady

Meditation by the priest Dolindo Ruotolo:

Jesus: The Most Holy Virgin is your most sweet Queen, present the homage of your soul to Her and love Her with all your heart. Devotion to Mary is the last anchor of salvation for the devastated world and for your soul. Cultivate this devotion in your heart, therefore, contemplating the glory of your Mother and devoutly reciting the Holy Rosary. You particularly love the Rosary, I know, and the Rosary has freed you from desperation, opening to you the luminous paths of piety and holiness. The Rosary is for you a comfort in life and the chain which unites you to God. I bless you +

The soul: I thank You, O Jesus, for all the graces that You have given me and I beseech You to grant me perseverance in doing good. Grant that I too may be crowned in heaven by Your goodness!
